LAKE SIMTUSTUS RESORT
Rebrand. Refresh. Respect.
An image upgrade for a special place, honoring a local hero challenged me to walk a fine line between culture and communication.
Lake Simtustus Resort sits at the edge of the Warm Springs Reservation.
When the privately operated RV park and marina was purchased by the Skibowl business family, it needed and deserved an upgrade. They added tiny homes and improved the marina while I got to work on its visual identity. Starting with the existing signage, I developed a new logo & brand standards that pay homage to its namesake. (Pipsher Simtustus served as a scout for the U.S. Army in 1867- 1868.) I used colors, visual queues and inspiration from the surrounding high desert landscape, creating a graphic language with standards for signage. The results were clean, clear and unmistakingly on-brand, connecting the resort to its place in Warm Springs culture.
