SKATE SPOTS

Volunteer Skate Spot: Design & Collaboration

Skateboarding has shaped almost every aspect of my life. At this point, I've spent at least three quarters of my time alive on this planet riding my useless wooden toy. I've had the good fortune to work on several projects that are much larger than me, and I'm excited to share some of those good vibes here.

PRIVATE BACKYARD, North Portland

I did some napkin sketches and 3D Sketchup modeling for my bud’s old man spot. Burke built it and yes, it’s super fun. No I won’t tell you where it is.

PECK PARK SKATEPARK, San Pedro, CA

I’ve been involved with the San Pedro Skatepark association for years. The great Andy Harris of SPSA fame got me involved with the early stages of Peck Park design after the City of Los Angeles showed they clearly had no idea what they were doing. Working with people I love led to working with legends and heroes. After early redesign phases, we were teamed up with Zach Wormhoudt from CA Skateparks, who helped us integrate our ideas into a workable park. The legendary Lance Mountain designed the centerpiece replica pool, carefully measured and modeled based on the legendary backyard permission spot “Ridiculous”. Another dream come true…

CHANNEL STREET SKATEPARK, San Pedro, CA

San Pedro Skatepark Association changed the way I look at building fun. This was another day under the bridge with some of the best lurkers in the business. So happy I brought my 35 millimeter Olympus to capture the crew in their element. If you don’t know by now, don’t bother.
